Ductless Mini-Split Air Conditioning (and Heating) Systems consist of three main components. First, there is the indoor air handler. This component mounts to an inside wall and is used to deliver heated or cooled air as well as to control the entire system. Our Blueridge Mini-Splits are controlled with easy-to-use remotes. Some units can be controlled with an app on your smart phone.
The second component of a ductless mini-split system is the outdoor air condenser or heat pump. This can be wall mounted or installed on a pad on the ground like a traditional heating and cooling unit. Each room being heated or cooled needs its own indoor air handler but a single outdoor unit supply to between one and five air handlers. The third component of a ductless mini-split system is the line set. This necessary accessory is used to connect the indoor and outdoor units, provide power, and allow for drainage. There are 2 copper lines, a drain hose, and a power line. These parts can be purchased separately or as part of a ductless mini-split system kit at Alpine Home Air Products.
